A language service defines various interfaces which the VSPackage implementation can implement to add support for various functionalities. Support for programming languages is added by using a specific VSPackage called a Language Service. The services can then be consumed for creation of other packages, which add functionality to the Visual Studio IDE. However, MPF does not provide all the functionality exposed by the Visual Studio COM interfaces.

The Visual Studio SDK also includes the Managed Package Framework ( MPF), which is a set of managed wrappers around the COM-interfaces that allow the Packages to be written in any CLI compliant language. Visual Studio uses COM to access the VSPackages. All editors, designers, project types and other tools are implemented as VSPackages. In addition, the IDE is also responsible for coordinating and enabling communication between services.

The IDE provides three services: SVsSolution, which provides the ability to enumerate projects and solutions SVsUIShell, which provides windowing and UI functionality (including tabs, toolbars, and tool windows) and SVsShell, which deals with registration of VSPackages. When installed, the functionality is available as a Service. Visual Studio does not support any programming language, solution or tool intrinsically instead, it allows the plugging of functionality coded as a VSPackage.

Visual Studio supports 36 different programming languages and allows the code editor and debugger to support (to varying degrees) nearly any programming language, provided a language-specific service exists.

It accepts plug-ins that expand the functionality at almost every level-including adding support for source control systems (like Subversion and Git) and adding new toolsets like editors and visual designers for domain-specific languages or toolsets for other aspects of the software development lifecycle (like the Azure DevOps client: Team Explorer). Other built-in tools include a code profiler, designer for building GUI applications, web designer, class designer, and database schema designer. The integrated debugger works both as a source-level debugger and a machine-level debugger. Visual Studio includes a code editor supporting IntelliSense (the code completion component) as well as code refactoring. It can produce both native code and managed code. Visual Studio uses Microsoft software development platforms such as Windows API, Windows Forms, Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Store and Microsoft Silverlight. It is used to develop computer programs, as well as websites, web apps, web services and mobile apps. Microsoft Visual Studio is an integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft. #4 is also not true because I have not used this promotion code before.Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish and Turkish

#1~3 is not true because Power BI Pro through MSDN is not a trial.

‘Sorry, The service you’re subscribing to isn’t available for one of the following reasons: The problem is: when I click on that 'Activate' link, I will reach a page saying: I have an active MSDN Visual Studio Enterprise subscription and I can see ‘Power BI Pro’ as one of the benefits in my MSDN portal. I am posting here since I can't submit a ticket to Power BI support (not a Power BI Pro user) I contacted MSDN support regarding this issue yesterday and they told me to contact Power BI support team instead, because they only 'specializes in account maintenance of Retail Visual Studio Subscriptions, and the procurement of software and keys for Retail Visual Studio Subscribers'
